In part one, Alex, a senior leader at an ambitious insurance brokerage, had been chatting about the hassles caused by her team's business reports; before attending the meeting where Internal Audit went through their review of the data function. We rejoin her on a bright spring morning.
The phone rang. Alex slammed shut her wellness journal and picked up.
I'll be straight, this is a sales call, do you have 30 seconds?
Not really.
I know how you feel. We find that most senior insurance brokers like you have trouble getting data that they can trust. Does that sound familiar?
I suppose it does.
You're not alone. We at DataBee have a great solution that really helps with this. How about I arrange a quick session to show you what we can do?
A week later and two representatives of DataBee are reading out their slides...
So as you know, Data Governance right now is really critical and not complying with GDPR can lead to unlimited fines. Our tool takes care of everything, by scanning all of your metadata and writing it to the blockchain.
What's more, because of its advanced AI automation, you don't need to have dozens of data stewards managing data manually, it's all done for you.
Alex's eyes were focused, but her mind was on a strategy placing a particularly tricky risk which had to be done by the end of the next day.
I can see this tool really helping you Alex, I'll send through this pack later today and include a few links to some webinars which will really resonate with you.
DataBee had done well. Their presentation had given Alex what she needed - some way to solve all this data stuff and a way to address the management actions raised by Internal Audit.
That's great. Appreciate you coming in.
Alex and Deecey presented at the monthly management catch up. Dan Davies, the COO, was chairing it today and was in a good spirits.
That's a really compelling case you have there. Data is so important to us and we can't afford to slip up. I'm pleased that we don't need to give our people more data compliance stuff to do - let's keep them focused on the clients.
What are your timelines to have all this data stuff resolved?
The vendor reckons that we'll have an MVP in a couple of months and be fully rolled out by year end. That's assuming that we get the contract signed off by the end of this quarter so we can secure their professional services people.
If you can pull that off, then that will be a big win for you. I've even heard talk that the Board wants to appoint someone to the role of CDO...
